River Clyde Homes (RCH) is pleased to announce a planned series of enhancements to supplement services to residents in sheltered housing complexes.
RCH operates nine complexes accommodating 282 residents. One building, Bagatelle Court, in Greenock, is managed by Greenock Medical Aid Society.
The introduction of a 24 hour response service to supplement the wardens’ service is being explored. Bagatelle Court has operated a similar system for residents for some 11 years and reports that the quick and easy-to-use system has long been a success. Bagatelle residents receive a personal alarm which can be worn around the wrist or, around the neck, as a pendant. If they find themselves in any difficulty, they press the alarm button which starts a chain of events at a contact centre where qualified staff can take control of a situation immediately. Wardens are, of course, on hand to provide their irreplaceable face-to-face services between during the day.
Lynne Carr, Chief Executive of RCH, has welcomed the ideas for service improvement saying, “We hope to introduce an enhanced alarm system for residents in sheltered housing complexes to increase their sense of security. The experience of Bagatelle Court shows that residents very much appreciate the peace-of-mind afforded by the 24 hour service. I hope something similar can be introduced to our other complexes” A series of meetings are being arranged early in the new year with residents to explain the benefits of the proposed new system. The first meetings, in John Gault House and Stewart House, where the scheme will be piloted have already taken place.
