In line with Government guidelines, RCH held its first ever virtual AGM on Tuesday 29th September 2020.  Members, Board members and staff were able to join in online or over the telephone.

The event was immediately preceded by an Extraordinary General Meeting where members approved the proposed changes to the RCH Articles of Association.

At the AGM, attendees were introduced to our new Group Chief Executive, Richard Turnock who has worked for the organisation for over five years in the role of Executive Director of Group Services.   They heard about progress with our new build properties in two of our large developments and the fact that we were able to hand over 24 new homes from phase 2 in Slaemuir in Port Glasgow during lockdown using an innovative contactless letting process.

The members were advised of new partnership working initiatives that the organisation are part of particularly with the Scottish Veterans’ Association.  Members were also given details of the work that RCH Staff and also staff of Home Fix Scotland, our subsidiary company, has been doing during lockdown including making thousands of reassurance calls, carrying out emergency repairs, picking up fly-tipping and keeping our environment tidy!

They also heard from the External Auditor who gave a positive report and confirmed a clean audit for the organisation.

The election of members to the Board of Management saw the re-election of Tom Ferrier.  The Association was also delighted to welcome new Board member, Christopher Morgan who brings a great deal of experience to the Board and is also currently the Chair of our subsidiary company Board, Home Fix Scotland.

Jillian Moffat, Chair of the RCH Board said “2020 has certainly been the most unprecedented year I have experienced in my lifetime.  For the RCH Group the impact has been enormous, but we have faced the challenges of providing that most fundamental of things for our customers: a place to call home.  We will continue to build, develop and grow.  We aim to carry on improving our services, giving support to those who need us most and providing value for money across our estate in everything we do.”

Richard Turnock, RCH Group Chief Executive said “Over the last six months, our organisation has continued to provide services around the clock, embracing a flexible and remote working approach enabled by technology. Although the delivery of our first ever virtual AGM was a natural progression for us, we look forward to engaging with our Members through public meetings once guidance allows”
