Revitalising Chapelton: Demonstrating the Difference
River Clyde Homes (RCH) is currently progressing works across five blocks within Chapelton.
These properties are acting as a live demonstration of the improvements residents can expect, showcasing not only the visual transformation but also the long-term benefits in terms of warmth, energy efficiency, and reduced maintenance.
This is a significant programme of investment and refurbishment which is now underway in the Chapelton area, with our contractors Procast Works tasked with undertaking a comprehensive package of improvements designed to transform the condition, appearance, and energy efficiency of local homes.
This project focuses on a range of essential upgrades, including external wall insulation, extraction and renewal of cavity wall insulation, installation of new rainwater goods, replacement fascia and soffits, and full roughcasting of properties. In addition, homeowners in the area are being given the opportunity to opt into roof replacement works, representing a substantial upgrade to their properties where agreement on costs is reached.
The project aims to build confidence among private owners and encourage wider participation by initially delivering these works on RCH-owned buildings. This approach is also a key step in unlocking funding support from Inverclyde Council, particularly for elements such as external wall insulation, soffit and fascia renewal, and improved rainwater systems.
Investing in Sustainability:
Alongside these improvements, RCH is undertaking full roof renewals on its blocks, with the addition of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, a measure which will help reduce energy costs for RCH Tenants while supporting wider environmental goals by lowering carbon emissions.
The integration of renewable energy technology reflects our commitment to sustainability and future-proofing housing stock, ensuring homes are fit for modern standards and rising energy demands.
Bringing Empty Homes Back to Life:
This is the first phase of a wider initiative aimed at tackling housing challenges in the area. A key objective is to bring up to 10 currently unlettable properties back into use, increasing the availability of quality homes within Chapelton.
By addressing structural issues, improving energy performance, and enhancing external appearance, the project is expected to make these properties viable once again, contributing positively to the local housing supply.
The Long-Term Vision for Chapelton:
The works being undertaken mark an important step toward long-term regeneration in Chapelton. Through a combination of investment, partnership working, and community engagement, the project is a key measure of our goal to improve lives and places by creating warmer, more attractive, and more sustainable homes.
As the transformation of the initial blocks progresses, it is hoped that more homeowners will see the benefits and access funding from Inverclyde Council - helping to ensure that the improvements extend across the wider neighbourhood and deliver lasting impact for years to come.
