John Galt gear up for summer fete
Sheltered housing complex, John Galt House, are fundraising to raise money to buy a community defibrillator to be stored on the wall outside the complex.
26 May 2023
A fantastic summer fete will be held at Greenock Sheltered Housing complex, John Galt House!
The fete will be held on Thursday 29th June from 11am to 4pm and they will have various stalls to try and raise as much money as possible.
This idea for the community defibrillator came about following the sad death of a lady who delivered the daily newspapers to the complex for 15 years. She died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 57 and the complex want to do something to honour her memory that could potentially save someone’s life in the future.
Local businesses, shops, bars, restaurants, and hairdressers have already generously donated vouchers and raffle prizes and Tesco’s charity champion, Lorella Sutherland is supporting the cause as well.
On the day they will have some pop-up shops selling jewellery, frames and much more. And along with ‘guess the sweets in the jar’ and ‘guess the bear’s birthday,’ they will be holding various raffles to try and raise as much money as possible.
Cappie the cat from Greenock Morton will be attending along with Fire Scotland and dancers from the Jackson Studio. A small bouncy castle will be available for kids on the day and there will be tea, coffee, cold drinks, and snacks on sale too.
It’s looking like a fun packed day so why not pop along and show your support!
