Equipment, aids and adaptations
As a result of Covid-19 restrictions and a very high number of Equipment, Aids & Adaptions referral requests, there is an approximate waiting time of nine months for work to be completed. Unfortunately we are unable to give any further information at this time and will be in touch on an individual basis when we have updates.
We are committed to supporting more customers and their families to improve their safety, wellbeing and quality of life through the provision of equipment, aids and adaptations which will assist customers to live more independently in their home for longer. Where this is not possible or practical, then assistance and support will be given to find suitable alternative accommodation that will better meet the needs of the customer.
Adaptations are split into two categories - minor adaptations and major adaptations.
Minor adaptations
A self-referral can be made online to River Clyde Homes for any minor adaptation. You can complete the self-referral form or contact us on 0800 013 2196. Examples of minor adaptations include:
- Grab rails (internal and external)
- Handrails
- Lever taps
- Stair rails
- Flashing beacons
Major adaptations
A major adaptation must come from a referral by the Inverclyde Centre for Independent Living: 01475 714350. Examples of major adaptations include:
- Walk-in showers
- Wet room showers
- Stair lifts
- Ramps
- Step alterations
- Wide doors or paths
- Sliding doors
- Kitchen adaptations
- Wheelchair access improvements.
Exclusions
- Where a property is subject to a right-to-buy application, it is not possible to undertake any adaptation work.
- Where we are unable to undertake an adaptation, it is possible for individual tenants to request permission to undertake the required adjustment at their own expense.
