KEEPING WARM
It is important to keep warm in the winter, particularly if you have an underlying health condition as exposure to low temperatures can have a serious impact on your health. The UK Government recommends keeping your house heated to at least 18 degrees celsius in the rooms that you are using.
Inverclyde Council’s Warm Hand of Friendship
Inverclyde Council has launched the Warm Hand of Friendship initiative which ensure that spaces, resources and advice are available throughout the area for practical and emotional support. The initiative includes an “Activities Map” which points to places such as local libraries where people can stay warm, take part in events and meet people in a warm and safe environment.
You can find out more about the Warm Hand of Friendship and view the Activities Map on the Inverclyde Council Website.
LOOKING AFTER YOURSELF
If you’re aged 50 or over, or are a carer, you’re eligible for a free flu jab and an autumn COVID-19 booster this winter. Contact your GP or pharmacist or visit the NHS website to learn more.
- If you are worried about your health, contact your local pharmacist, 111 or your GP, who will all be able to offer advice and support. In an emergency dial 999.
