How River Clyde Homes can support our customers during periods of cold weather.

Stay warm and safe this winter. River Clyde Homes is here to support you through the cold weather with a range of services designed to keep your home comfortable and your finances on track.
What counts as an emergency?
If you experience a total loss of heating, a burst pipe, or a power failure, our team is available
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Help with your Heating Bill - Financial Wellbeing & Fuel Support
Don’t struggle with rising energy costs alone! Our Financial Wellbeing Team offers free, confidential advice to help you maximise your income. Contact us on 01475 788887 to find out more.
We can help you apply for the Winter Heating Payment, Warm Home Discount, and Cold Weather Payments, or any of the following:
- Pension Age Winter Heating Payment (PAWHP): You could get a payment of between £101.70 and £305.10. Most eligible people get the payment automatically and do not need to apply. You’ll get a letter to confirm your payment. Letters are being sent from November 2025. Social Security Scotland will send the payment to the same account as your State Pension, or any Social Security Scotland benefits you get.
A small number of people will need to apply - River Clyde Homes Financial Wellbeing Team can support you with this.
- Warm Home Discount: £150 paid automatically if you or your partner are on guaranteed pension credit. If you are on a low paid income and certain benefits you can also qualify, your supplier will have more details.
- Winter Heating Payment - is £59.75 and payments began from mid-December 2025. Payment will be made automatically to those eligible.
- Child Winter Heating Payment: This is a payment of £255.80, paid once a year to parents and carers of disabled children and young people under 19 who receive a qualifying benefit.
- River Clyde Homes currently works in partnership with Wattwise Inverclyde who can offer fuel support for our tenants. This support includes energy crisis support, advocacy support, specific energy advice / information and energy saving, and energy support.
- River Clyde Homes is a partner of the fuel bank foundation who can intervene in crisis situations.
- River Clyde Homes is a partner of HACT who offer fuel vouchers that we can access for our customers.
- River Clyde Homes has a partnership with Community Links Scotland who provide further energy advice for our customers.

We are working hard to keep your local area safe during ice and snow.
- Gritting & Clearing: Our contractors, Home Fix Scotland, carry out a winter maintenance programme, prioritising pathways and stairs at sheltered housing and high-rise blocks.
- Wellbeing Checks: We offer Winter Wellbeing Checks and support packs for our older or more vulnerable customers.
- Warm Hand of Friendship: In partnership with Inverclyde Council, various "Warm Spaces" are available across the area where you can find a friendly face and a warm environment.

Winter Ready Checklist
- Locate your stopcock (main water valve) so you can turn it off in an emergency.
- Keep your heating on at a low temperature (around 12-15°C) even when you are out to prevent pipes from freezing.
- Bleed your radiators to ensure they are heating efficiently.
- Keep curtains closed at night to trap heat inside.
